Over in the States was the Wekfest 2012 show on the 19th Feb. Heres a few videos of what went down.
Having not worked on the car for a month, i decided to go and spin some spanners, to feel like i was getting somewhere. I started to put everything back together up the back.
All of the arms up back were replaced with aftermarket items. Hardrace adjustable toe and camber arms, and Function 7 Lower control arms.
Heres what everything looks like in place:
Toe arm;
Camber arm in the background, with the LCA up front
And here is the brake caliper and rotor mounted.
When all back together, i mounted the wheels on, just for a peek…
Over this weekend I did a bit of painting and rebuilding.
The first task was to get the trailing arms looking nice. We know what they looked like after cleaning them up:
So I got a bit of this stuff to paint them with.

Then spray it on. Multiple thin coats so we dont get runs, starting with one just to get some cover on it, 5 minutes flash dry, then another coat. Repeat a few more times till you have full coverage all over it.
Repeat for the other side. After these have been set aside to dry, it was time to start on rebuilding the rear calipers. With no idea how many kilometeres they had on them, or how long they had been sitting around for, I wasnt going to risk it. And they were filthy as well.
Here is the rebuild kit layed on on the bench, so I knew what i was in for.
Take out the slides
The piston comes out next from the main body of the caliper, and its insides removed to be cleaned.
The external part of the handbrake assemby.
And finally the rest of the guts of the caliper.
The caliper body itself was cleaned up with a wire wheel in the drill to remove all the built up crud that had caked itself on through years of use.
But they werent staying like this. It doesnt take long for the silver to get filthy again, so with the help of some VHT caliper paint, they got a birthday. Hung up so we can access all of the caliper without handling it, we attack it in a similar fashion to the trailing arms.
Then following the instructions, we bake them at 90 degrees celcius for an hour. Heres some I prepared earlier.
Assembly is the reversal of what we have already done. Using plenty of PBR Rubber grease to keep everything lubed up its all put back together, and a clean up of the handbrake stuff with the wirebrush to get it nice and fresh, and then put it all together. This is the final product.
The other side is the exact same. And thats all for this update, thanks for reading.
Hit the wheel wells with some spray on sound deadener today.
Gave under the spare wheel tub and subframe a cleanup and spray as well.
